About PRYT Practitioner

Mary Sloan has been a practitioner of yoga since 1986. She is a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, and a Licensed Massage Therapist. Mary also holds a Master’s in Social Work and worked as a clinical social worker for many years in the fields of child and family therapy, substance abuse treatment, and hospice care. As a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, Mary is able to combine her love of yoga and bodywork with her professional skills as a psychotherapist.

Yoga Offerings

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
A unique form of body-mind treatment, PRYT combines classical yoga techniques with elements of contemporary psychotherapy to enable clients to connect with their body's deep wisdom, and to bring insights gained from this experience into action. A typical session includes assisted yoga postures, stretching and breath work designed to bring the client deeper into his/her internal experience. PRYT sessions are done on a shiatsu-style mat. No prior experience with yoga is required.
75-minute session - $90

Classes and Workshops
Mary offers soothing, meditative classes that focus on stress reduction, release of chronic tensions, and increased personal strength and flexibility. Her teaching combines the compassionate, heart-centered approach of Kripalu yoga with a precision and attention to alignment influenced by her many years of study of Itengar and Anusara yoga.
Individual Sessions: One-on-one sessions customized to your specific needs - $60/hour
Group Classes: - $11-15/class
Workshops: Weekend retreats, on-site wellness programs and worksite yoga classes. Fees vary.

Massage Offerings

Craniosacral Therapy
A gentle, soothing method that engages the body’s own natural healing mechanisms to reduce the negative effects of stress on the central nervous system. The therapist uses a very light touch to identify and release restrictions in the craniosacral system, and restore physical and emotional balance. Especially helpful for chronic conditions such as migraines, temporopmandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and learning disabilities. 1 hour session - $70

Hot Stone Massage
Heated basalt stones are placed on the body and used as “moveable heat” to dissolve chronic tensions and pain. A deeply relaxing and grounding experience!
Incorporated into a 1 hour Swedish session - $80
Full 75-minute session - $95

Myofascial Release
A therapeutic method that focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascial system through gentle, prolonged holding and stretching. Myofascial Release allows patients to process emotional and physical aspects of pain and injury, facilitating body-mind integration and healing of trauma. Particularly beneficial for relieving chronic pain, improving postural imbalances, and recovering from traumatic injuries and surgery.
1 hour session - $70

Swedish Massage
A soothing massage, characterized by long gliding strokes. Designed to produce relaxation, alleviate muscle tension, and increase circulation.
$45 for 30 minutes

Thai Foot Massage
A massage treatment for the lower legs and feet that involves both hands on stretching and massage of the feet and legs to open the Sen (energy lines), as well as stimulation of the reflexology points on the feet. It feels both incredibly relaxing and energizing for the legs and feet. Whether you have chronic foot problems or just loved getting your feet massaged, this is a wonderful treatment.
1 hour session - $70

The Yoga Loft:  Located at 540 Delaware Avenue in Albany, New York. It is next to Wine'n Diner & Nicole's Restaurants.

From downtown Albany: We are roughly 2 blocks past the intersection of Whitehall Road/Second Avenue on the left.

From southern end of 787: Make a left onto McCarty (a.k.a. Southern Blvd and McAlpin Avenue). At the 2nd stoplight, turn right onto Delaware Ave., and the Yoga Loft is a half block down on the right.

From Delmar: Take Delaware Avenue into Albany and then go just half block past the intersection with McAlpin Ave. The Yoga Loft will be on your right.
